A native of Walkerton, Indiana, pianist/composer Sherry K attended the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, where she received her degree in piano performance. Following graduation, Sherry traveled extensively across the United States, performing in dinner theatres and theme parks. Beginning in 1991, she served four years as Musical Director at the Round Barn Theater in Nappanee, IN, and spent six years as Musical Director at the Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw, IN.
Now a resident of South Bend, Sherry performs solo concerts for state fairs, women’s groups, festivals, theatres, and various organizations across the country. Her most recent appearances have been at the Chicago Music Mart, Nashville’s Opry Mills, and the Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend. Sherry’s eclectic style includes everything from down-home gospel and blues to new age, classical and jazz. Much of her time is spent teaching, composing, and recording as well. Two of her original choral musicals have been met with critical acclaim. Former recording projects include an album of gospel music called We Praise Him, and CDs entitled Westbound and A Whole New Woman.
Sherry K’s latest release is Sunday Best – Hymns and Spirituals Freshly Pressed. Recorded at the Gaither Studios, this disc is loaded with fun — these are not your Grandma's hymns! Well, actually, they are, but with a delightfully invigorating toss through the spin cycle to keep them fresh and exciting.
Sherry K's CDS entitled Westbound and A Whole New Woman are comprised of original instrumental music. Filled with stylistic twists and turns, A Whole New Woman takes you on a musical roller coaster ride, a breathtaking panoramic view into the heart and hands of Sherry K.
"Some people play the piano. Sherry K has a conversation with an old friend."
